Stupid Drivers

Is it just me, or do people get stupider when they get behind the wheel of a car? As someone who’s been involved in two accidents (neither of which were my fault), I’ve come to believe this more and more each day.

Just today, I saw no less than two people drive right on through stop signs (one of which I had to swerve around to avoid another accident.)

What seems really dumb though, is people who simply stop in the middle of the road. They don’t make any effort to pull over, or even turn on the signal light. There was even one of these people today who wanted to get into a fight after I blew my horn at him (in retrospect, probably not the best plan of action), because it’s apparently his God-given right to park in the middle of the road and be a nuisance to everybody else on the road.

I won’t even get into the people who apparently never learned how to use a merge lane, insiting on stopping because they want to cut across two lanes of traffic, instead of getting into the first lane, then moving over to the second.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I expect these people to be splitting atoms home in their basement. I’m just wishing that they could display some basic level of intelligence.
