XLink Kai and SLUG

Wow, it’s been almost a month again with no post. (This was brought to my attention over the weekend when I was told that upon checking my site, they get a picture of a Christmas tree) Maybe I should’ve made a New Year’s resolution to update my site more often… Oh well, too late… Maybe next year. :)
Well, I’ve been pretty busy. I’ve been playing poker 2 nights a week (it’s not a gambling problem until you start losing money that you can’t afford to), and have managed to finish Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox (not without cheating, but it’s still pretty hard).

I’ve also discovered XLink Kai a fantastic piece of software that lets you play any console game that supports system-link online for free. This makes Halo 2 a whole lot more fun, and has caused me to go purchase a headset for my Xbox. If you see CnslCwby online, add me to your list.

Besides that, I’ve seen a couple of good movies. Meet the Fockers is probably the funniest thing you’ll see in a long time. In Good Company is a great movie that anyone will enjoy (anyone that can enjoy a movie where things don’t blow up), and Sideways was also very good, but won’t have the same amount of general appeal as In Good Company… It’s a film festival movie, some people just don’t like them, but if you do, so watch it.

Also, SLUG has started up again for the term and we have a number of good talks scheduled. Subscribe to our announcement list to be notified of any upcoming talks. I’m giving one on March 17th about doing backups that I’ll have to start preparing for soon. I’ve already decided that instead of doing my presentation in OpenOffice.org Impress (which has never failed me yet, and I still recommend as a PowerPoint replacement) I’m going to try S5 and do it all in pure HTML/CSS. I’ll be sure to post here on how that goes.
