Torino 2006 Standings on your Google Homepage

Posted February 12th, 2006 in General

For anybody who’s following the Olympics, I spent a couple hours this afternoon creating a Google Personalized Homepage module for the current medal standings.

If you want to add it to your page, click on the ‘Add Content’ link, and paste this URL into the ‘Create a Section’ box.

It might be a little slow/ugly/etc. but it’s the first module I’ve attempted to write, and trying to do a screen scrape of a web page in JavaScript is an experience not unlike banging your head against a concrete wall… repeatitly… for an entire day… and then getting hit by a bus.

Very cool. Just one suggestion, make the links open outside of the iframe or whatever it is. It looks weird right now.

Wow, I never even noticed that… I’m so very used to right clicking and picking ‘Open in new tab’.
Anyways, it’s fixed now, as soon as the cache is refreshed, all will be good.
