First Concert at Shoreline

Last night I attended my first (hopefully of many) concert in the Bay Area–Counting Crows & the Goo Goo Dolls at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. It was a good show. The Goo Goo Dolls were better than I had expected, and I had wanted to see Counting Crows for quite some time; now I have an actual live performance committed to memory to go with the six other live shows I have on CD or DVD (including the new album).

The Goo Goo Dolls played a nice mix of their old hits (Slide, Name, Iris, Broadway) plus some new harder tracks off their new album. Counting Crows also had a nice mix of their classics and newer tracks. There were only two other songs that didn’t get played that I would have liked to hear: Anna Begins (quite possibly their best song), and Angels of the Silences.

I did manage to take one photo that came out OK (after a crop and some curve adjustment–I like how CCDs capture a lot of information in the dark areas of a photo that can be extracted). Luckily Erin had my camera in her bag and reminded me to take the photo–I often take my camera with me places, but never actually think to use it. I’ve started a Concerts album in my photo gallery for that one photo, with the hope of filling it up later–now that I’m living somewhere where a lot of bands play, this shouldn’t be hard, if nothing else I’ll be seeing DMB in September.
