2007 Goals

Monday, January 1st, 2007

These are not quite resolutions, but a short list of my (personal, not professional) goals for this year. I’ve never been in to the whole ‘make resolutions and change your life on the first of January’ thing. Maybe it’s because I’m not really that long out of school, and the start of the school year always seemed like a more logical place trace in some vices for virtues. So these are goals, they’re fuzzier than resolutions and if I get […]

Sonoma Valley

Sonoma Valley

Two weeks ago, a group of people from work went up to Sonoma Valley for the day to do some wine tasting. In addition to tasting over a dozen wines, I thought this was a good chance to take a few more pictures. I tried a few using a polarizer this time around, forgetting that they can give some odd effects at wide angles. Nevertheless, I got a few (what I […]

More Concert Happenings

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

I saw another concert this past weekend. This time it was John Mayer and Sheryl Crow. Once again at Shoreline Amphitheatre, and once again to a pretty packed crowd.

Although I don’t claim to be a huge fan of either of these artists (not like Dave Matthews Band and Counting Crows), I rather enjoyed the show. Marjorie Fair was the opening act, who I can honestly say did nothing for me. […]

Dave Matthews Band at Shoreline

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

Last night, I (finally) saw Dave Matthews Band live in concert. On a scale from one to awesome, it was totally awesome. No photos though, as the Shoreline people wouldn’t let me bring mine in.

They played for almost three hours, and it was still too short. No number of live recordings or concert DVDs can prepare you for the actual experience of seeing these guys in top form. My only regret is that I didn’t get tickets for […]

First Concert at Shoreline

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

Last night I attended my first (hopefully of many) concert in the Bay Area–Counting Crows & the Goo Goo Dolls at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. It was a good show. The Goo Goo Dolls were better than I had expected, and I had wanted to see Counting Crows for quite some time; now I have an actual live performance committed to memory to go with the six other live shows I have on CD […]

So Many Things

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Once again, I haven’t posted in a while. My targeted average of one post per week is falling apart at the seams… oh well, maybe I’ll get it back up.

There have been many things to do down here in the valley. Last Sunday, myself and Naeim saw Seth MacFarlane (creator of Family Guy). He’s an entertaining speaker, plus we got to see one of next years episodes (before it’s been animated, so it was really just storyboards & voices).

This weekend, […]

Ping Poäng

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

I’m now officially moved in, I think I got my last piece of furniture (the Ikea Poäng chair, see photo). There are a few more furnished photos in my Apartment album. The only thing left to do is to get a larger TV… the 13″ one don’t really cut it for movies and Xbox.

I’ve been pretty busy for the last little while, between trying to learn the Googely way of doing things at work and trying to get everything else […]

Assembly Day

Sunday, March 19th, 2006

Today I bought furniture–table, chairs and a sofabed.

I can’t help but be impressed by the engineering that goes into Ikea furniture. They’re able to design and build something that’s not only functional & inexpensive, but can also be easily assembled by somebody with no mechanical ability. All that’s required to put it together are tools that they provide with every item (allen key(s), wrench) and a page or two of instructions (purely pictoral–language free). It might be just me, but […]

Small World Weekend

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

So, yesterday I was informed that an old friend, who I’ve been out of touch with since undergrad (haven’t even seen in passing since Christmas of ‘02), is also living/working in the Bay Area. What are the odds? (really, if someone can actually compute them, I’d be interested). I met up with this friend for hapy hour last night, which was good.

Also, I get to see Lori tonight & tommorow, while she’s in San Francisco.

In other news, I […]

Big Move

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

OK, it’s been a long time since I last posted… again. My one post a week goal has taken quite a hit lately, but I have an excuse… I’m settling in to my new job (Cluster Systems Administrator for Google), and attempting to adjust my internal clock for 4.5 hour time difference. Although the time difference meant that I had no trouble waking up and getting to work in time for breakfast.
I’m currently living in temporary housing, and […]
